Heritage and Heirlooms on a Plate

Bursaria was delighted to host over 100 guests for ‘Heritage & Heirlooms on a Plate’ as part of this year’s Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
Set within the grounds of Werribee Park, the event was a true celebration where guests could immerse themselves in a sensory food experience. The roving lunch showcased heritage produce (plucked straight from the tree or earth) from the Community Gardens, lovingly tendered by the community and ‘Working beyond the Boundaries’ program supported by Parks Victoria.
The day began with roving canapes on The Refectory Front Lawn, nestled next to the historic mansion within the stunning grounds of Werribee Park. Guests were treated to live music and a menu designed around the freshest seasonal produce, all matched with a glass of wine from our neighbours at Shadowfax Winery.
Craig Castree, horticulturalist and author of ‘Edible Gardens’, was also on hand to share his passion for the Community Garden and his special insights into the Orchard’s history.
After lunch, guests wandered down to explore the Community Garden whilst enjoying some decadent roving desserts. These were served just in time before the storm rolled in, creating a perfect finish to a wonderful day!
